The news that five local churches have benefited from a share of the £42 million Conservative Government conservation fund has been welcomed by North Trafford Local Conservatives.

The Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme supports the protection of religious buildings representing all faiths and denominations and Since 2010, the Fund has invested £346 million in listed churches, synagogues, mosques and temples. The fund provides financial assistance for works such as to the roofs, masonry and monuments integral to the buildings.

In North Trafford, St. George’s Church in Carrington, St. Mary’s Church in Partington, St. Matthew’s Church in Stretford, St. Mary the Virgin in Davyhulme and All Saints Church in Trafford Park have all received funding over the last year.

Commenting on the funding, Jonathan Coupe, Chairman of North Trafford Local Conservatives said “Thousands of North Trafford residents will attend Midnight Mass or Christmas Day Services this year and many will visit a building which has received grant funding through the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme.

“Places of worship play a valuable role in the local community and I would encourage local places of worship to apply for assistance before the scheme closes in 2025.”
