Tax Cut

Jonathan Coupe, Chairman of North Trafford Local Conservatives has welcomed the Conservative Government’s Budget, sticking to the plan and supporting more families across North Trafford with the cost of living.

By sticking to the plan, and more than halving inflation from 11.1. per cent to 4.0 per cent, the Conservatives are tackling the cost of living, with wages continuing to grow and mortgage rates starting to come down.

At the Budget the Conservatives have gone further to support families by putting more money back in people’s pockets through tax cuts, supporting more parents with the cost of childcare and freezing fuel duty for the fourteenth consecutive year.

The cut to National Insurance, together with the tax cut announced at the Autumn Statement 2023, means a hard-working family in North Trafford with two earners earning the average wage – £35,400 – will receive a combined annual tax cut of £1,827.

The cut to the High-Income Child Benefit Charge means a family with two children in North Trafford whose higher earner has an income of £65,000, will gain around £1,664 towards the cost of their childcare.

These measures build on significant cost of living support including £900 cost of living payments for eight million UK families, a record boost to the National Living Wage and the increase of the State Pension and working age benefits.

This Budget builds on the Conservative Government’s work to stick to the plan to deliver a brighter future for Britain.

Commenting, Jonathan Coupe said:

“With inflation down from 11.1 per cent to 4.0 per cent and wages are growing, I am pleased the Conservative Government is continuing to help families across North Trafford with the cost of living.

“This Budget builds on significant cost of living support by putting more money back in people’s pockets, cutting the cost of childcare and freezing fuel duty.

“The Government have been able to put forward these measures thanks to the long-term decisions the Conservatives have taken, sticking to the plan to strengthen our economy, and helping to secure a brighter future for families across the country.”
